SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS

John Case, CPP, is available for presentations to national trade and professional association meetings/seminars, as well as other groups, on the following subjects:

"HOW BUSINESS CRIME AFFECTS YOUR BUSINESS"
(1-2 hours)
Crime is a major concern for every business. Unfortunately, theft, drugs and violence thrive in the workplace, just as they do on the street, often without the knowledge of management. To compound the situation, police are unable to assist businesses in dealing with the problem. This riveting presentation makes you aware of the true extent and magnitude of crime hidden in any business and what to do about it.

"EMPLOYEE THEFT - THE PROFIT KILLER"
(1-1.5 hours)
Employee theft costs US businesses over $53 billion annually and affects every type of organization. The majority of unexplained inventory losses involve employee theft. Nearly 1/3 of all businesses that go bankrupt do so due to employee theft while countless others experience continuing and unrealized losses. This presentation provides unique insight into the nature/impact of employee theft, why employees steal, and offers proven strategies to detect and prevent it.

"WARNING SIGNS OF EMPLOYEE THEFT IN YOUR BUSINESS"
(1-1.5 hours)
One of the most unique characteristics of employee theft is the general warning or 'telltale' signs that theft is taking place in the business. However, a majority of employee theft goes undetected by management due to it's lack of awareness as to what to look for and how to determine the difference between theft, carelessness and incompetence. This presentation develops attendee sensitivity to and understanding of employee theft and, most importantly, the ability to identify and eliminate potential theft situations within the work environment.

"COMPETITORS WANT YOUR TRADE SECRETS" (2 hours)
It is estimated at 60% of business losses come directly or indirectly from theft of proprietary information such as sales strategies, manufacturing plans and processes, R&D and customer lists by competitors. Over 23 foreign countries have been confirmed to be actively engaging in corporate espionage against US companies with many domestic firms acknowledging they also engage in this activity. This presentation provides eye-opening insight into how any company in a competitive environment is vulnerable to theft of its secrets, what can be done to prevent it and minimum security precautions you must take to secure your vital information.

"SHOPLIFTING - WHEN YOUR MERCHANDISE IS FREE!" (1.5-2 hours)
Retailers lose over $10 billion annually to shoplifters. A recent major study of 300 companies in 26 separate retail environments, revealed shoplifting accounts for an average of 1/7% of their total sales volume. Most alarming was that the study found such retail operations as toy, hobbies, and similar specialty industries had a higher percentage of losses to total sales than larger discount stores, department store and supermarkets which were previously thought to be most vulnerable to theft. The bottom line is shoplifting is most likely to occur in any retail business which unknowingly provides the shoplifter with opportunity and minimal risk of detection. This presentation covers how, why and which customers steal. Also it covers management and sales techniques to prevent and detect shoplifting, as well as the most effective ways to deal with shoplifters.

His presentations can be custom tailored to meet a time allotment and the specific areas of interest to the audience.
